Hypoallergenic feed based on one protein and one carbohydrate source (horse and potato).

Hypoallergenic means that the feed consists of one protein and one carbohydrate source. It is not hydrolyzed (exception: ingredients coming from other animal species). Thus, of course, there must be tolerance to the components used. By using rarer protein sources, a suitable feed can often be found.
The fats and oils used are purified before processing in such a way that the presence of proteins can be practically excluded. Thus, these ingredients do not cause any intolerances.
Intolerances are not infrequently promoted by frequent changes of feed. Animals, especially dogs, do not need frequent changes of flavors, since they have few taste buds anyway and a change of food is therefore always fraught with risks. One can already prevent from the puppy age and limit oneself to a food, as long as a change does not become medically necessary. To find out if it is really a feed reaction, one ideally makes an elimination diet.
This involves feeding one protein and one carbohydrate source for a period of 3-8 weeks until the symptoms have resolved. Ideally, one should choose components with which the animal has had no previous contact.
IMPORTANT: The dog must not be given any other treats, snacks, food, chews, leftovers from the table or the like!
After the elimination, you can slowly reintroduce other individual food components (at intervals of approx. 14 days) to test whether they are also tolerated. In this way, one can do without the substances that trigger the intolerances in the long term.
